At Legend X, we are committed to supporting the communities we work in. During the de-fishing works for the new highway project, we wanted to show parents and rangatahi that we were doing everything possible to protect the natural environment while constructing a significant new highway through the maunga. We achieved this through kōrero with students and teachers, explaining the purpose of our work and the steps taken to protect local ecosystems.

Alongside our good friends James Kendrick and Kaitlyn, we visited the local kura, where the experience made a lasting impression. The students were inspired to study kaitiakitanga throughout the term, which was incredibly rewarding. We also introduced them to local tuna, showcasing our longfin eels and the habitat enhancements being created to support them. This engagement led to the formation of our Junior Kaitiaki programme, as well as a whānau planting day.
